GAFFNEY, S.C. – A South Carolina work crew has found a body, but the coroner says the remains don't appear to be related to a serial killer who recently shot five people to death.
Coroner Dennis Fowler says a crew preparing to mow the grass found the body around 2 p.m. Tuesday inside a fence at a power substation near an industrial site in Gaffney.
Fowler says there was identification on the body and the man appeared to be dead for several months.
Authorities have said the serial killing suspect, Patrick Burris, just finished serving nearly eight years in prison in late April.
Fowler says he is checking missing person reports and awaiting an autopsy report to identify the body and the cause of death.
