Charlotte-based fast-casual eatery Salsarita’s has named a new president and chief operating officer to improve profitability at the restaurants, as the company gears up to open a new prototype location with a new logo in Rock Hill.
The Rock Hill location, opening July 15, is the company’s 17th location in the Charlotte market. The company, founded in 2000, operates more than 80 locations in 19 states. In late August, Salsarita’s plans to open another location in Charlotte, at 5920 Highland Shoppes Drive, off Prosperity Church Road at Interstate 485.
Phil Friedman, the restaurant veteran who bought Salsarita’s in 2011 after retiring as the CEO of McAlister’s Deli, said Ken Green will be Salsarita’s new president and COO. Friedman will remain the CEO. Green was formerly COO of McAlister’s Deli and Friendly’s Ice Cream, and has also been vice president of Cosi Sandwich Bar and Xando Coffee and Bar.
“Salsarita’s has experienced tremendous success and I want to further build upon that foundation by focusing on improving profitability at the store level,” Green said in a statement. “I also want to ensure that we continue to be innovative with our delicious menu offerings and provide our customers with everything they expect when they visit Salsarita’s.”
The Rock Hill location, at 295 Herlong Avenue, includes “a refreshed exterior, interior, and patio.” The store will serve as the prototype for future locations, the company said. Opening day specials include a free entree card for the first 50 customers and a prize raffle.
