Crescent Communities has closed the sale of a 0.9-acre site in NoDa to Asana Partners for just over $1.9 million, real estate records show.
Located at 36th Street and the new Blue Line light rail extension, the small site is tucked next to Novel NoDa, a 344-unit apartment building developed by Crescent that opened last year. The plan is for Asana to develop retail on the site, such as shops or restaurants.
Crescent reached a deal last year to sell the retail spaces at three of its new developments, including the Whole Foods under construction uptown at Stonewall Station, to Asana. The NoDa site is the first part of that deal to close.
Asana hasn’t detailed its plans for the NoDa site, where Crescent had originally talked of luring a boutique grocer. An Asana executive said the company is working to lease the space but doesn’t have plans to announce yet.

At Novel NoDa, studio apartments start at $1,268 per month, one-bedroom apartments start at about $1,500 and two-bedroom apartments start at about $1,900.
The light rail extension from uptown to University City is expected to start service March 16, with a stop adjacent to Novel NoDa.
