Charlotte-based family law firm Sodoma Law has opened a fourth office in Monroe.
Attorney Penelope Hefner has been named as principal and will lead the new office. In a statement Monday, the firm said Hefner, who received her J.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, is a past president and an active participant in the Union County Bar who has many current clients in the area.
The branch will focus on divorce, child custody and support, alimony and pre- and post-marital agreements.
The firm said clients will also have access to Sodoma’s other services, including appellate, estate planning, assisted reproductive technology and business litigation.
The new office also will have a certified parenting coordinator, who works with parents involved in “high conflict” custody cases to improve communication skills, teaches co-parenting techniques and works on conflict resolution.
“When we were considering adding another office and, at the same time, an expansion of our leadership team, it quickly became apparent that Union County and Penelope presented an outstanding opportunity for both,” said Nicole Sodoma, the firm’s managing principal.
Sodoma’s other three Charlotte offices are on East Boulevard, on Morehead Street and in Ballantyne.
