Speedway Benefits, a Charlotte-based marketing alliance for grass-roots racetracks in the U.S., announced on Tuesday a partnership with Ballantyne-based Premier Inc. to provide food-service concessions to its members.
The alliance was launched in October by former Charlotte Motor Speedway President Humpy Wheeler and his son, Trip Wheeler. Humpy Wheeler’s goal is to unite the more than 1,000 grass-roots racetracks, dirt drag strips and oval tracks under one alliance for collective marketing and purchasing opportunities, said Terri Marascio, director of communication. She said Speedway Benefits has about 300 members so far, including Carolina Speedway in Gastonia, East Lincoln Speedway and Mooresville Dragway.
Premier, a health care improvement company, also provides supply chain services for non-health care organizations.
“Nationwide, grassroots racetracks spend more than $44 million in food/concessions per year,” said Speedway Benefits’ president, Trip Wheeler, in a statement. Through the Premier partnership, “everyone comes out ahead – tracks save money, fans get better food, and large companies have an easy way to talk to fans that spend billions on things like beer, candy and hot dogs.” Celeste Smith
