Matthews-based Family Dollar said Monday that it has hired Brian Hancock as its new senior vice president of supply chain.

Hancock had previously worked in supply chain management for Whirlpool, Inc., and as president of the North American division of McDonald’s largest food supplier, the Martin-Bower Company. In his new role, Hancock will report to chief executive Howard Levine.

“Building an efficient, end-to-end supply chain is critical to providing our customers with the compelling values they have come to rely on Family Dollar to deliver,” said Levine, in a statement.

Family Dollar has seen several prominent executives leave recently, including chief operating officer Michael Blom and two executive vice presidents of supply chain.
