Gov. McCrory appoints Mathias Hunoval to Banking Commission

Gov. Pat McCrory announced in a statement on Friday the appointment of Charlotte lawyer Mathias Hunoval to the North Carolina State Banking Commission.

Gov. Pat McCrory announced in a statement on Friday the appointment of Charlotte lawyer Mathias Hunoval to the North Carolina State Banking Commission.

Hunoval is the founder of Hunoval Law Firm, PLLC, which concentrates in default services for mortgage lenders and servicers, as well as investors in mortgage securities. The firm has grown significantly since 2010, bringing its employee count from five to 65.

A graduate of Davidson College, Hunoval earned a law degree from Wake Forest University School of Law and a master of laws degree from New York University School of Law.

As a member of the commission, Hunoval will assist the Commissioner of Banks on issues such as bank mergers and the establishment of banks.

The term length for the commission is four years.
