Publix is looking to hire more than 100 employees for the Huntersville store it plans to open this fall.

The Florida-based supermarket chain has set up a temporary hiring center through Wednesday at 104 Gilead Road, which used to be a police station.

New jobs include cashier, meat cutter and front service clerk, said Kim Reynolds, a spokesperson for Publix. The store plans to transfer managers from other locations.

Those interested can fill out an electronic application at the center from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Hires will be announced about a month before the opening. No date has been set.

Publix operates 1,077 stores nationwide, with five in the Charlotte area. By the end of the year, Publix expects to have a total of nine locations in the region.

The Huntersville store will be located at 9815 Rose Commons Drive in the Market Square Plaza, in a location that was formerly a Bi-Lo.
