American Airlines will start daily nonstop service to Grand Rapids, Mich., on Wednesday under the US Airways Express banner, adding to the merged airline’s reach into the Midwest from Charlotte.

The twice-daily flight is one of a series of new nonstop Midwestern destinations announced this spring for US Airways Express. A daily flight to Fort Wayne, Ind., and three daily flights to Evansville, Ind., will begin Oct. 2.

American and US Airways merged in December. They are still flying under their own brands until they are certified to operate as one carrier. Charlotte Douglas International Airport is the combined airline’s second-largest hub. The airline is also adding Midwest destinations from its hubs in Dallas/Fort Worth, Philadelphia, Chicago and Phoenix.
