Charlotte-based Terwilliger Pappas has started construction on its latest Solis-brand apartment development, headed to Steele Creek.
Solis Berewick, as the project is called, will total 275 units in four buildings near Steele Creek Road and Shopton Road West, with surface parking. The company said Monday that it expects to complete is first units in mid-2017 and wrap up construction in early 2018.
The apartments are part of the 1,600-home, master-planned Berewick development by Pappas Properties, which has seen rapid growth in the last year. A Harris Teeter is set to open in October at the development’s town center, and a Hampton Inn hotel is set to open within the next 12 months.
“The Berewick community is one of the most conveniently located and walkable sites in southwest Charlotte,’’ said Tom Barker, east region president for Terwilliger Pappas.

Cline Design Associates is the architect for Solis Berewick, with Rule Joy Trammell Rubio providing interior design services and LandDesign as the landscape architect and civil engineering firm. Fortune Johnson is the general contractor, Cigran Realty Investors is a partner in the project and Citizens Bank is providing construction financing.
Steele Creek is experiencing explosive growth, with thousands of new houses and apartments, as well as commercial development, headed to the area in the coming years.
Terwilliger Pappas is developing six Solis-branded apartment complexes in Charlotte, totaling 1,567 new units. At Solis Berewick, the average unit will be 1,108 square feet. Amenities will include a pool, fire pit, gym, pet park and clubhouse. An affiliate of Terwilliger Pappas bought the 13.4-acre site in June for almost $4.7 million, real estate records show.
