The Charlotte Regional Partnership said Tuesday that the Bissell Cos. and Rodgers Builders are the recipients of its annual Jerry Awards.
Named for former Charlotte aviation director Jerry Orr and Carolina Panthers owner Jerry Richardson, the awards are meant to honor people who have had a big impact on the local economy.
The Bissell Companies developed much of SouthPark and then launched Ballanytne, the region’s largest planned development and office park.
“We are honored and humbled to be among a superior group of previous winners,” said Smoky Bissell, the company’s chairman.
Rodgers is a general contractor that has built structures from medical offices to college campuses to offices.
“Our founding was based on B.D. Rodgers’ passion for building the Carolinas, ensuring that our actions contribute to our region’s economic growth and strength,” said Pat Rodgers, president and CEO, in a statement. “Our team members bring their best talents, every day, to help ensure that our region and our communities thrive.”
The companies are set to receive their awards March 30 at the Charlotte Convention Center.
