Charlotte City Council on Monday approved a plan to build more than 200 new townhouses on a mostly vacant site across from Ardrey Kell High School.
The plan, from developer Century Communities, calls for 205 townhouses and 15 single family houses on the site on Ardrey Kell Road — which is currently occupied by several single family houses — for a total of 220 new residences. The site totals 37 acres.
City Council voted unanimously for the plan, which hadn't stirred opposition at an earlier hearing.
The Colorado-based developer is also building a new development with 239 townhouses near the Arrowood light rail station on the Blue Line light rail.
