A large new age-restricted community is set to be built east of Charlotte near Mint Hill, on 371 acres of wooded land next to Interstate 485.
Charlotte City Council held a hearing on the Kolter Homes project, called Cresswind Charlotte, earlier this month. Council members and staff didn’t raise any serious questions or concerns.
The rezoning request calls for:
▪ Up to 850 age-restricted houses, for those 55 and older.
Never miss a local story.
▪ An independent and dependent-living nursing home with up to 230 beds.
▪ Up to 290,000 square feet of retail, general and medical office space.
▪ The development would also include parks, walking trails, and an amenity center with activities such as tennis and a pool.
City Council is set to vote on the plan at their meeting next month. Florida-based Kolter has said the community could take about eight years to fully build out.
