A new nightclub called World is coming to the AvidXchange Music Factory. It will take the place of Label Charlotte, a nightclub that closed this spring.
World is owned by Gennaro Vitale, a Raleigh entrepreneur who also owns Kandy Bar in the Epicentre uptown. Vitale describes World as a 21,000 square-foot nightclub and event space that will host EDM and hip-hop DJs on the weekends, as well as parties, corporate events and weddings.
World opens Labor Day weekend and will have an “all-star cast of performers,” Vitale told the Observer. Those names will be announced next month, he added.
“(Vitale) has a proven track record of producing world class events and we are looking forward to the energy this venue will bring to the project,” said Noah Lazes, president of the ARK Group, developer of the AvidXchange Music Factory.
World takes possession of the space July 1, and soon after that will begin a “cosmetic renovation,” including upgrades like new lighting and a new patio, Vitale said.
Next year, World will add a swimming pool adjacent to the new patio that will be for daytime and nighttime use. “It will have a South Beach feel,” Vitale added.
The Charlotte payment automation company AvidXchange recently finished construction on its new corporate headquarters in the Music Factory. The company also bought the naming rights to the Music Factory complex, which also includes the restaurant/bar 8.2.0, the Fillmore Charlotte and VBGB Beer Hall and Garden.
