Publix is opening its newest Charlotte-area grocery store March 14.
The Florida-based supermarket chain said in a statement this week that the new store in Denver, about 21 miles northwest of uptown Charlotte and near Lake Norman, will host its grand opening that day at 7 a.m.
The newly constructed 49,000 square-foot store is in the Cambridge Village shopping center, a mixed-use development under construction off NC Highway 73.
Publix, Charlotte’s No. 4 grocery chain, entered the North Carolina market with its first store in Ballantyne in 2014. The grocery chain has been growing its local footprint aggressively since then.
Never miss a local story.
Publix competes most closely with Matthews-based Harris Teeter – that’s why you’ll often see their stores in close proximity to one another. The new Publix in Denver, for instance, is less than a mile from a Harris Teeter down the road.
Publix opened its latest area location Wednesday in Sherrills Ford, also in the Lake Norman area.
