Construction recently began on the new Fresh Market in Dilworth Gardens, and the grocery store is slated to open in mid-November, just ahead of Thanksgiving.
Omega Construction is general contractor for the project, says Brad Murr of MPV Properties, which manages and leases the shopping center. Fresh Market signed a lease with the property group earlier this spring.
The much-anticipated new grocery store takes the place of the former Blacklion home furnishings store, which closed in January, in a 14,200-square-foot space. That’s a little bigger than the standard Trader Joe’s but about one-third the size of a traditional Charlotte-area supermarket like Harris Teeter.
Talley’s Green Grocery, a natural foods market, previously occupied the space before it closed in 2008 after 17 years in business.
Never miss a local story.
This will be Fresh Market’s fifth location within Charlotte and the company’s 21st location in North Carolina.
Other recent additions to Dilworth Gardens are a Sherwin-Williams paint store and Sean Rocco Salon, both which opened this year. Murr says the shopping center is now full.
