Low-cost fashion retailer Gabe’s will open a new store in Charlotte’s University area on Saturday.
The 50,000-square-foot store is at 8101 University City Blvd., which is in the Commons at Chancellor Park.
A few weeks ago, Gabe’s hosted a hiring event to fill “more than 100 positions” for the new Charlotte store, which it says is one of five new Gabe’s stores opening in July across four states.
Gabe’s, based in Morgantown, W.Va., sells a variety of goods including footwear, accessories, beauty products and adult and children’s clothing for prices it says are up to 70 percent lower than at department stores and specialty stores.
The chain operates 47 stores in the Carolinas, Kentucky, Maryland, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia.
Including the new Charlotte location, Gabe’s now has three North Carolina stores. Earlier this year, the retailer closed two of the stores it operated under the Rugged Warehouse banner in Gastonia and Greensboro and reopened them as Gabe’s.
