Harris Teeter will open its latest fuel station in nearby Fort Mill on Nov. 13.
The Matthews-based grocer operates one other gas station at its store in Folly Beach, near Charleston. Harris Teeter bought that property from Piggly Wiggly in 2013 and inherited the gas station already there, so the Fort Mill station is the first it has built independently.
Gas stations have been anticipated at Harris Teeter stores since Kroger completed its acquisition of the local chain in 2014 and started implementing some of its own initiatives at Harris Teeter stores. Property records suggest a fuel station may be coming to Charlotte at the new Harris Teeter in the Berewick shopping center in the Steele Creek area.
Harris Teeter will celebrate the grand opening of the Springfield Town Center station at 412 Mercantile Place in Fort Mill at 10 a.m. with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, according to a statement Friday. The Harris Teeter store in the shopping center opened in March.
The grocer is offering a gas promotion of $10 off a $50 fuel card when customers buy $50 or more in groceries.
The station will be staffed daily from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., and fuel will be available for purchase by debit and credit cards 24 hours a day.
