A made-to-order pizza concept called Project Pie is coming to South End.
The new restaurant will occupy 2,530 square feet in the newly developed, three-story building at 2400 South Blvd., just down the street from Camden Southline apartments and near Publix.
The 36,000-square-foot building is under construction and will be complete in the middle of 2016, said Mark Newell, who is leasing the project for MPV Properties. Other tenants include Novant and Truliant Credit Union, and MPV is still marketing the remaining space.
Initially a Tex-Mex restaurant was planned for Project Pie’s space.
Project Pie will offer made-to-order artisan pizzas using homemade dough and other fresh ingredients. Pizzas are baked in an open fire deck oven for about two minutes, according to marketing materials from Ankoor Patel, the local franchisee. Salads are also made to order.
Project Pie is a California-based chain with several U.S. and international locations. This will be its first North Carolina restaurant, according to the company’s website.
MPV is also leasing the building across the street at 2317 South Blvd., which was previously Paradise Island Dive Shop. The renovated building’s new tenants include Orangetheory Fitness and Mattress Firm.
