Goodwill Industries of the Southern Piedmont has put up a pop-up boutique on the second floor of the EpiCenter that will run through this week. The experimental concept, called GW, will offer trendy designer apparel, jewelry, shoes and accessories at low prices.
The shop will be open daily: 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, 10 a.m. - 10 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, and Sunday 11 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Ahead of the opening, Goodwill erected a sign reading “Werk in progress” at the store’s front to add intrigue to the opening, which it has kept secret.
Goodwill describes GW as a “social, engaging and chic” concept targeting millennials. It will offer brand names like Michael Kors, Tory Burch, Kate Spade, Prada and Coach. GW will also have a tacky Christmas sweater section and a bar with free candy.
“This concept store allows Goodwill to test the market uptown, as this could be something that we bring permanently to uptown Charlotte in the future, as well as to our new Goodwill Opportunity Campus in west Charlotte when it opens in mid-2016,” said Barbara Maida-Stolle, executive vice president of business enterprises at Goodwill Industries of the Southern Piedmont.
As is the case at Goodwill stores, proceeds from purchases at GW fund Goodwill job training and employment services available free to the community. The pop-up boutique is made possible through a partnership with Charlotte Center City Partners.
