A pizza chain called Pieology is planning to open its first Charlotte location, in the EpiCentre.
The fast casual chain is targeting a summer opening date, said spokeswoman Chelsea McKinney. The shop will be located on the EpiCentre’s second floor, in the former AT&T space.
Pieology offers made-to-order pizzas, meaning much like at Chipotle, customers can customize their pies by choosing from a variety of crusts, sauces, cheeses and toppings, according to Pieology’s website.
The custom pies are $8.95 across the board in the southern states, McKinney said.
Pieology’s menu also features signature pizzas like Hickory BBQ and Smokin’ Buffalo Chicken.
Earlier this year, Pieology was named the fastest growing chain in America by research firm Technomic, Business Insider reported. Another custom pizza chain called Blaze Pizza, which is opening its first Charlotte location in South End in the spring, was rated No. 2.
California-based Pieology operates more than 80 locations nationwide, including one in Raleigh. The chain will open another North Carolina restaurant in 2017, McKinney said, though its location and opening date are yet to be determined.
