Used-car seller CarMax is going on a massive nationwide hiring spree and plans to add 35 workers to its four Charlotte-area dealerships.
The local hiring is part of an effort to recruit for more than 1,600 positions across the U.S., including 94 in North Carolina, the retailer said this week. The majority of the positions CarMax is looking to fill are in sales; others are in service, purchasing and the business office.
The company is hiring 14 people for its store off South Boulevard, 10 at its Independence Boulevard location, seven in Gastonia and four in Hickory, a spokeswoman said.
There are part-time and full-time positions available, as well as day and evening shifts. Those interested can apply online.
“You don’t necessarily need to have experience in the automotive industry to work at CarMax,” said Tracey Shoemaker, director of talent acquisition for CarMax. “We focus on hiring people with high integrity and provide award-winning training and development to help our associates build great careers.”
CarMax is a Fortune 500 company headquartered in Richmond, Va. Charlotte-based auto dealer Sonic Automotive has recently started competing with CarMax with a chain of standalone used-car dealerships in Colorado.
