    Chef Roberto Mendoza, the former Executive Chef at Queens University whose background includes cooking for celebrities and U.S. presidents, opened a restaurant on Mother's Day this year. His restaurant, The Chef Heaven's Kitchen at 6023 Albemarle Road, will make its debut on the Taste of the World restaurant showcase event on Oct. 1. The annual east Charlotte event sells out every year, and brings bus tours of diners to international restaurants in east Charlotte. "I'm excited. It's my first year," says Mendoza, who plans to include live music and greeters at the door to welcome the foodies.
