Northbound Interstate 77 near the Interstate 277 exchange has reportedly reopened at 6:15 a.m. Tuesday morning, after two hours of intermittent closures due to a wreck.
Backups of more than a mile were reported at the height of the cleanup and are expected to linger for the next hour.
The crash on Interstate 77 sent two people to the hospital Tuesday morning. It happened around 4:43 a.m. on I-77 northbound near Remount Road, just before Interstate 277, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg police.
Police say that two cars and a semi-truck were involved in the crash. At least one vehicle was overturned, reports Observer news partner WBTV. Medic took two people to Carolinas Medical Center-Main with minor injuries.
