Singer Fantasia has canceled a peaceful protest that was scheduled for 6 p.m. Sunday at Romare Bearden Park.
In a video posted to Facebook and Twitter, the Charlotte singer said city officials had contacted her and raised concerns about crowds following the Carolina Panthers-Minnesota Vikings game. She said she would hold the event next weekend instead.

The event, titled “Hear Me Now,” was billed as an effort to build unity following five days of protest over the fatal shooting of Keith Lamont Scott by a Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officer.
