A Concord man has been accused of kicking a pregnant woman in the stomach during an argument.
Brandon Lamont Mason, 22, has been charged with assault on an unborn child, according to the Independent Tribune, which also said the suspect and the victim knew each other.
Mason was arrested on May 20, jail records show. The arrest came after a man kicked a woman in the abdomen, punched her in the head and placed a shirt around her neck and choked her, the newspaper said.
Police said Mason lunged at the responding officer with a stick, leading to a charge of assault on a government employee.
Mason’s other charges include assault by strangulation and second-degree kidnapping and assault on a female.
Bond was set at $30,000, jail records show.
