Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police have charged Danigel Cowan, 16, of Salisbury with involvement in the Memorial Day murder of Bobby Edward Wesley Jr. at a hotel in north Charlotte.
Cowan has been charged with armed robbery and conspiracy to commit armed robbery. A charge of murder was not listed in jail records. The investigation is ongoing, police said.
The shooting and robbery happened around 5:31 a.m. Monday at the 5100 block of Reagan Drive, which flanks Interstate 85 near Sugar Creek Road, police said.
Wesley, 23, was found in a room at the Travel Inn and was pronounced dead from an apparent gunshot wound, police said. A 16-year-old was also in the room and suffered minor injuries.

Investigators said information led them to identify Cowan, who was located and arrested Thursday morning in Salisbury. He is now in the Mecklenburg County jail.
