Bald Charlotteans should avoid any summer vacation plans in the south African nation of Mozambique, where police are warning that bald people could be the targets of “witch doctor butchery.”
Two bald men were recently killed there for their body parts, which were thought to have been used in witchcraft, reports the international news site The Guardian.
The killings were also covered by The New York Post, which featured a photo of a grinning Bruce Willis with the headline: “Witch doctors are hunting bald men to use in magic potions.”
According to the Guardian, the two victims were men over 40 and one with without his head and his organs were removed.
Two suspects were arrested, both about 20 years old, and they claimed the organs were used by healers in a ritual to promote the fortunes of people, it was reported.
“Their motivations come from superstition and culture: the local community thinks bald individuals are rich,” police spokesman Inacio Dina told the Guardian.
Mozambique is a coastal nation in Africa, across from the island of Madagascar. The killings took place in Milange, in the center of the country, it was reported.
