Multiple Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police officers shot and injured a man who was holding a woman hostage at gunpoint in north Charlotte, police said.
Officers were called to the 1900 block of Holly Street shortly after 10 p.m. Monday in response to a breaking and entering call. An armed man was inside of a home when officers arrived, and came outside with the woman held hostage, police said.
Officers shot the man, and he was taken to a hospital by Medic, police said. The man and the officers involved have not been identified.
The woman wasn’t harmed in the incident, police said.

CMPD Internal Affairs is conducting a separate but parallel investigation to determine if department policies and procedures were followed during the incident, and the officers will be placed on administrative leave.
