When the Patriots’ Tom Brady didn’t shake Nick Foles’ hand after Sunday’s Super Bowl loss to the Eagles, some NFL fans called him a sore loser.
It also sparked a heated internet argument over Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton “doing the same thing” when the Panthers lost to Peyton Manning in the 2016 Super Bowl. Even media outlets like Fox News have joined the debate.
Problem is, Newton did shake Manning’s hand and there are photos to prove it. It’s a fake story, false rumor, or out right lie. Take your pick.
Newton’s countless fans have been arguing the point for days and they apparently won, as apologies and corrections have begun to spread on Twitter.

In the process, Panthers fans have asked a lot of questions about why Newton was dubbed a sore loser forabruptly exiting a post Super Bowl press conference after losing in 2016, while Brady is not being called out by the national media for making little effort to find Foles on Sunday for a handshake.
Fact is, the media does appear to be making excuses for Brady, including a USA Today article that reasoned “the post-Super Bowl rush is chaotic” and a CBS Sports article that noted: “It’s very possible that it was just a total accident.”
