Police are at numerous wrecks in the 8 a.m. hour across Charlotte, including at South Boulevard and Lexington Avenue, and at Sharon Road and Asley Park Lane.
An injury wreck has been reported at Hambright and Statesville roads in Huntersville and a wreck in the 3000 block of Rocky River Road in the University City area.
In other traffic news:
▪ Due to a water leak, inbound East Morehead Street at South McDowell Street will be reduced to one lane Wednesday through June 12.

South McDowell also is reduced to one lane in each direction, and motorists should expect congestion and delays in the project area, according to the Charlotte Department of Transportation.
Oriole Avenue at Morehead is closed as part of a storm drain improvement project. Local access to residences will be maintained, and CATS will not be affected.
▪ Several uptown streets will close Thursday for Taste of Charlotte, which begins Friday and concludes Sunday.
Motorists should seek alternate routes around uptown. Those wishing to attend the event or needing to commute to uptown are strongly advised to use CATS buses and the Lynx Blue Line Light Rail.

The Charlotte Department of Transportation also advises motorists to allow for more commute time, arrive early and leave early if possible, and use the I-277 loop/exit closest to their location.
The annual Taste of Charlotte festival will be held on Tryon Street between Stonewall and Trade streets, 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Friday-Saturday and 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday.
Streets that will close for setup at 9 a.m. Thursday are Tryon between Stonewall and Trade, and Levine Avenue of the Arts.
Martin Luther King Drive, and Third and Fourth streets between College and Church streets will stay open until 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
Third and Fourth streets will be open 6:30-9 a.m. Friday and then will close for the rest of the festival.
All streets will reopen at 10 p.m. Sunday.
