A $1.13 million grant from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation will enable the McColl Center for Visual Art to expand its Innovation Institute, which uses artists to help business and community leaders learn to think creatively.
More than 60 senior business executives have gone through the three-year-old program, McColl director Suzanne Fetscher said Wednesday. The money, spread over three years, will provide scholarships enabling a more diverse range of participants. The grant will also help the institute add follow-up programs to help graduates apply what they've learned to the work of their businesses or community groups.
The foundation was established by the Observer's former owners.
The next Innovation Institute session begins Sept. 19. Information: www.innovationatmccoll.org.
