Elizabeth Edwards canceled a speech at a conference in Pittsburgh on Thursday, saying she was suffering from a stomach virus.
Edwards, the wife of former Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards, was scheduled to be the keynote speaker at the Pennsylvania Governor's Conference for Women.
But she spoke to the conference by a telephone hookup.
“She apologized profusely and said she felt OK yesterday,” said Shannon Gravitte, a conference spokeswoman.
Doctors “determined it was merely a stomach virus, not related to her cancer,” she said.
Edwards, who is battling breast cancer, spoke Wednesday in Carrboro about health care.
