Q. I started going to what is supposed to be a Bible study, but I'm not sure if I'll continue. We never really discuss what the Bible says, but mainly sit around sharing our personal problems and then praying about them. What should we do?
Nothing is more important for our spiritual growth than the Bible, and one of the best ways to discover it is to become involved in a group Bible study.
This particular group seems to be going in another direction, and you may need to explore other options. What they're doing isn't wrong, of course, but this shouldn't become a substitute for delving into the Bible and applying its truths to our lives.
Share your concern with the discussion leader; he or she may not even realize that the group has drifted from its original purpose. Ask God to help you find the spiritual nourishment you need. Your church may have a Bible study that can meet your needs.
Never miss a local story.
Set aside time each day to be alone with God – reading his word, meditating on its truth, and praying.
