A new parking lot has opened at the Lynx stop at I-485/South Boulevard, providing relief to commuters who arrive to find the lot full.
More parking spaces could be available by spring.
The 1,120-space park-and-ride lot at the Blue Line's southernmost stop typically fills up by 8:30 a.m. on weekdays. Drivers have had to continue north to other train stations to find parking spots.
The new lot, located south of the Texas Roadhouse restaurant at 9530 South Blvd., opened this week. It has 54 spaces.
CATS is currently preparing to pave and stripe an additional lot north of the restaurant that will have about 85 spots. That lot is expected to open in February or March.
