A newborn baby boy, apparently abandoned by his mother a few hours after birth, was found Wednesday morning in the restroom of a McDonald's restaurant in southwest Charlotte.
Officials from Medic, the county's emergency medical service, say the baby appears to be in good health.
The infant was found about 9:15 a.m. in the women's restroom at the McDonald's in the 14100 block of Rivergate Parkway. A police spokesman said witnesses reported seeing a man take the baby into the restroom and then run out the restaurant door into the parking lot.
Authorities say the baby was only a few hours old when it was found. The boy was breathing and moving normally, police said. He was taken to Carolinas Medical Center for attention.
Police say they did not get a description of the man, but officers plan to check the surveillance video camera tapes at McDonald's to see if they can get any clues.
