A coroner in South Carolina confirmed Friday that Logan Edwards' body was discovered by searchers in the Congaree River, 150 miles from her Waxhaw home.
Police in Waxhaw have charged Edwards' husband, Danny Edwards, with murder.
Edwards had reported his wife missing about two weeks ago. Logan Edwards' car, a 2008 Mazda Tribute, was found Wednesday, parked at a Quality Inn off Interstate 95 near a Santee Cooper reservoir. Police searched the Congaree River on Thursday and found a woman's body about a mile east of U.S. 601.
Edwards told police that his wife left home Oct. 31, after the two argued. But police in Waxhaw say they think Danny Edwards killed his wife that night at their home, off Providence Road, and then took her body to South Carolina.
The couple had been married about a year. Danny Edwards is from Marshville; his wife was from the Charleston area.
Police say they were called to the couple's house twice during the past year because of domestic disturbances.
Danny Edwards remained in a Union County jail Friday, awaiting a Dec. 4 court hearing.
