The annual Scouting for Food drive in Mecklenburg County has so far collected an estimated 250,000 pounds of food this week for Loaves & Fishes pantries. Organizers say 4,000 Scouts gathered food Saturday from neighborhood donors. Vance Ayscue of Troop 118 collected 2,107 pounds of food. The drive continues through Sunday, with donors asked to bring nonperishable food items to any Harris Teeter in Mecklenburg County. Campaign officials hope to exceed last year’s total of 264,000 pounds of food.
