Several blocks in Charlotte’s uptown were closed for hours Monday morning after a reported natural gas leak.
The leak was brought under control by a Haz-Mat team shortly before 11 a.m., but Piedmont Natural Gas crews were still on the scene Monday afternoon making repairs.
Police said the leak was reported about 9 a.m. at East Fourth and Caldwell streets. Charlotte-Mecklenburg police closed portions of several roads in the area, including parts of Davidson, Caldwell and East Fourth streets.
There were no reports of building evacuations. Around 10:45 a.m., fire officials said they were clearing the scene.
