One dead, two seriously hurt during training at Fort Bragg

One paratrooper was killed and seven injured, two of them seriously, during a training exercise for the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg.

One paratrooper was killed and two were seriously injured Friday morning during a training exercise at Fort Bragg, the Army said.

Five more paratroopers were treated and released at Womack Army Medical Center on post.

A statement from the 82nd Airborne Division said the incident is under investigation and more information will be released as it becomes available. The Army did not say what had happened or describe the nature of the soldiers’ injuries.

“We offer our heartfelt prayers and condolences to the families of the Paratroopers killed and wounded in this tragic incident,” Maj. Gen. John W. Nicholson, Jr., Commanding General of the 82nd said in the statement. “Our first priority is to provide the families with the support they need during this difficult time.”
