The N.C. Department of Transportation has awarded a $717,000 contract to replace the bridge on Will Schronce Road over Hoyle Creek in Lincoln County.

The project is scheduled to begin March 31 and be completed within 120 days. During construction, traffic will be detoured onto Hovis Road and Keever Dairy Farm Road.

The DOT said the bridge is 52 years old and is functionally obsolete. That means it is safe but must be replaced to meet current and future traffic needs.
