Today’s traffic: Overturned vehicle on I-485

All lanes are open again on Interstate 485 in western Mecklenburg County following a late-morning wreck.

A car went off the road and overturned on the right shoulder in the collision, which was reported about 11:10 a.m. on the inner loop of I-485 near Dixie River Road. That is not far from the West Boulevard interchange.

Two lanes were blocked for a short time, but police were able to reopen the travel lanes shortly before noon.

Earlier Wednesday, wrecks on northbound Interstate 85 in west Charlotte and on inbound East Independence Boulevard caused big traffic headaches.

The first multi-vehicle collision was on I-85 near the Tuckaseegee Road exit. It was reported about 8:30 a.m., and all northbound lanes were closed for a short time.

Police were able to reopen all travel lanes by 8:50 a.m., but traffic remained slow in the area for another hour.

The second crash was on Independence Boulevard, near the Pecan Avenue bridge. It was reported shortly after 9 a.m. and slowed traffic for an hour.

Daimler Boulevard, near Tega Cay and Lake Wylie ... The York County Sheriff’s Office is conducting training operations this week on Daimler Boulevard, between S.C. 274 and S.C. 49. Motorists need to find an alternate route to Daimler Boulevard.
