A couple of collisions are slowing motorists across the Charlotte region at 8:45 a.m. Monday, but the biggest problem is congestion.
One of the collisions is on northbound I-85 in Gaston County.
A crash is blocking one lane and causing very slow traffic near the McAdenville exit. Motorists can expect delays until about 9:15 a.m.
Heavy traffic is slowing the pace on the inner loop of Interstate 485 in southern Mecklenburg County. Average speeds near the Johnston Road and Pineville-Matthews Road interchanges are about 15 mph.

Albemarle Road inbound ... Congestion; traffic moving 15-25 mph from Lawyers Road to Sharon Amity Road.
Independence Boulevard inbound ... Congestion; traffic moving 20-25 mph from Eastway Drive to uptown.
Providence Road inbound ... Congestion; traffic moving 20-25 mph from the Arboretum area to Wendover Road.
I-485 inner loop, south Mecklenburg ... Congestion and a wreck near N.C. 51; traffic moving 10-20 mph from Providence Road to I-77.
I-85 northbound, Gaston County ... Wreck near Exit 23 (McAdenville); heavy delays for 4-5 miles.
I-77 northbound, south Charlotte ... Congestion; traffic moving 25-35 mph from Carowinds Boulevard up to Clanton Road.
Johnston Road ... Congestion; traffic moving 15-25 mph northbound from the state line to I-485.
U.S. 321, Gaston County ... Congestion; traffic moving 15-25 mph in each direction between I-85 and Dallas-Cherryville Highway.
