Rain is likely to return to the Charlotte region by Friday night and continue through Saturday, before the sun and warmer temperatures make for a splendid Easter Sunday.

The chance for rain during the day on Friday is slight, with only a 20 percent chance of precipitation, according to the latest National Weather Service models.

But the chance for rain soars to 80 percent Friday night.

Friday’s high, meanwhile, will reach only 58 degrees.

The chance for rain on Saturday is 60 percent, with the high creeping up only a degree from Friday. Northeast winds will reach 11 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 23 mph.

But all the messy weather will be a mere memory by Sunday, when the high will rise to near 71 degrees under sunny skies.

But will it last?

While Monday will remain sunny with a high near 72, a chance of showers returns on Tuesday, with an expected high of 76.

Wednesday and Thursday will be sunny, however, with expected highs reaching a respective 77 and 76 degrees.
