Charlotte Rescue Mission is collecting cakes, pies, cookies and other sweet treats for its annual Easter homemade dessert drive.

The mission opens every year on Easter Sunday to all those seeking food, comfort and hope, mission Executive Director Tony Marciano said. “We want everyone who comes to the Rescue Mission on Easter to receive a real taste of home,” he said Friday.

The Rescue Mission served hundreds of meals last Easter and hopes to feed even more this year. Fresh desserts can be dropped off at the mission through Easter Sunday morning.

The mission is at 907 W. 1st St., near the Carolina Panthers practice fields. Joe Marusak
