The Union County schools spokesman has made some news of his own – Rob Jackson has been named superintendent of the Edenton-Chowan school district. Jackson starts his new job on July 1.

He served as principal of three Union County schools between 2002 and 2012 before taking over as chief communications officer. In 2011, he was named the Wells Fargo North Carolina State Principal of the Year.

Jackson’s new school district in eastern North Carolina has about 2,400 students; Union County has about 42,000 students. Adam Bell
