Today’s traffic: Vehicle fire slows southbound I-85

The traffic trouble spot in the Charlotte region at 9 a.m. is still southbound Interstate 85.
A vehicle fire about 8 a.m. in the left lane near Sugar Creek Road has slowed traffic in north Charlotte. The vehicle has been cleared, but slowdowns continue back to near Harris Boulevard.
Otherwise, congestion is easing at 9 a.m. Here is the update:
I-77 southbound, Lake Norman area ... Congestion; traffic moving 25-35 mph from Brawley School Road (Exit 35) down to Gilead Road (Exit 23).
I-85 southbound, Cabarrus County ... Congestion; traffic moving 25-35 mph from George Liles Parkway (Exit 54) down to Mallard Creek Church Road (Exit 46).
I-85 southbound, north Charlotte ... Congestion from an earlier vehicle fire near Sugar Creek Road; moderate delays.
Albemarle Road inbound ... Congestion; traffic moving 20-30 mph from Lawyers Road to Sharon Amity Road.
I-485 inner loop, south Mecklenburg ... Congestion; traffic moving 25-35 mph from Providence Road to I-77.
Independence Boulevard inbound ... Congestion; traffic moving 25-35 mph from Eastway Drive to uptown.
Johnston Road ... Congestion; traffic moving 15-25 mph northbound from the state line to I-485.
Providence Road inbound ... Congestion; traffic moving 20-25 mph from the Arboretum area to Wendover Road.
I-77 northbound, south Charlotte ... Congestion; traffic moving 30-40 mph from Carowinds Boulevard up to Clanton Road.
U.S. 321, Gaston County ... Congestion; traffic moving 15-25 mph in each direction between I-85 and Dallas-Cherryville Highway.
