Citing their ability to draw crowds, the Mooresville Downtown Commission hopes to stage a monthly, night-time gathering of food trucks on Main Street.

On Monday night, the Mooresville Board of Commissioners will consider allowing the trucks on public streets. The trucks now set up in parking lots.

Town Manager Erskine Smith cited the growing popularity of the trucks in Charlotte and elsewhere, but commissioner Lisa Qualls said at a board meeting Friday that she’d first like downtown restaurants to endorse the events, since the gatherings could hurt their business.
