Today’s traffic: Storm leaves plenty of problems

The heavy rain and gusty winds from Charlotte’s thunderstorm earlier Thursday morning has taken a toll on traffic in the area.
At 8 a.m., there were no reports of collisions on interstate highways in the region, but wet streets were causing slow traffic.
A number of problems are being reported on secondary roads across the area, including traffic signals not working, trees blocking the roads, and minor flooding.
Here is the 8 a.m. update:
I-77 southbound, Lake Norman area ... Congestion; traffic moving 20-30 mph from Brawley School Road (Exit 35) down to Gilead Road (Exit 23).
I-77 southbound, Iredell County ... Congestion from an earlier wreck at mile marker 49 in Statesville; moderate delays.
I-85 southbound, Cabarrus County ... Congestion; traffic moving 20-30 mph from George Liles Parkway (Exit 54) down to Mallard Creek Church Road (Exit 46).
North Tryon Street at Salome Church Road ... Storm damage causing moderate delays.
Sugar Creek Road at Nevin Road ... Disabled vehicle; minor delays.
Hucks Road at Old Statesville Road, Huntersville ... Collision with injuries; moderate delays.
Starita Road near Statesville Road ... Collision; minor delays.
Tom Hunter Road near North Tryon Street ... Collision; minor delays.
North Hoskins Road at Brookshire Boulevard ... Collision; minor delays.
Albemarle Road inbound ... Congestion; traffic moving 15-25 mph from Lawyers Road to Sharon Amity Road.
I-485 inner loop, south Mecklenburg ... Congestion; traffic moving 25-35 mph from Providence Road to I-77.
Independence Boulevard inbound ... Congestion and a wreck at Village Lake Drive; traffic moving 20-25 mph from Margaret Wallace Road to uptown.
Johnston Road ... Congestion; traffic moving 15-25 mph northbound from the state line to I-485.
Providence Road inbound ... Congestion and a wreck at Rea Road; traffic moving 20-25 mph from the Arboretum area to Wendover Road.
I-77 northbound, south Charlotte ... Congestion; traffic moving 25-35 mph from Carowinds Boulevard up to Clanton Road.
U.S. 321, Gaston County ... Congestion; traffic moving 15-25 mph in each direction between I-85 and Dallas-Cherryville Highway.
West Morehead Street at Julian Price Place ... Storm damage; road closed.
Barringer Road at Remount Road ... Storm damage; road closed.
South Tryon Street at Carowinds Boulevard ... Disabled vehicle; minor delays.
