The first holiday of the summer season will be nearly perfect across the Carolinas, according to meteorologists.
Forecasters say the Memorial Day weekend will feature plenty of sunshine and seasonal temperatures, with only a small chance of thunderstorms Friday.
On Friday, a slow-moving cold front is expected to be draped across South Carolina, gradually pushing southward. Forecasters say the front will be close enough to stir up the atmosphere and create a small chance of a thunderstorm across the Piedmont. High temperatures will be in the mid 80s.
That sets the stage for the weekend.
Meteorologists say high pressure will build southward from the Great Lakes, eliminating any chance of precipitation. Sunny skies are forecast Saturday through Monday, with highs in the low 80s Saturday, the low to mid 80s Sunday, and the mid to upper 80s Monday.
Conditions at the beaches and mountains also are expected to be nice throughout the weekend.
